Die Idee zu diesem Besteck kam Carl Pott, als er unter einem Kastanienbaum sitzend ein herabfallendes Blatt betrachtete. Die organische Form wurde zum Vorbild für den Löffel, aus dem sich die weiteren Besteckteile ableiten. Weniger mit der Natur, dafür mehr mit dem Gebrauch hat die markante, zweischneidige Messerklinge zu tun. Der zusätzliche Wellenschliff auf dem Rücken eignet sich bestens für einen kräftigen Schnitt. Als Besteck für die Olympiade 1972 in München wurde das Modell weltberühmt.
